It’s nice to have those digital photo frames (DPFs) on your desk to show your favorite photos. With shopping season coming, the price on DPFs is coming down significantly.

However, it is easy to create your own such DPFs with even better results without a penny. The idea is to use screensaver to display a web folder (so that you can have multiple computers, home, office, laptop, etc.) in slideshow format. Here is how:

1. Download and install Google Picasa client version here. Then on your PC desktop, “Display Properties”->Screen Saver, you should see “Google Photos Screensaver”

2. Click “Settings” to edit. You may use “Specific folders on my computer” if you only  set up for one computer, or “Web Albums” which you are limited to Google Pisaca Album (not bad if you are already using it for your online photos). To use a more generic photo RSS feed, pick the selection “Photos from public sites”. There you can point to your online photo folder such as Flickr.com or foxsaver.

3. The list on Google site doesn’t mention how to link to Microsoft Live Space which I am using, but you can still do so. It is mentioned in this wiki article. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Live_Spaces)

Photo album: /photos/Album_ID/feed.rss - photos from a specific album (ex: http://thespacecraft.spaces.live.com/photos/cns!8AA773FE0A12B9E3!3591/feed.rss)

Nice, isn’t it? for me I have a main working desktop with my laptop next to it, I am using my laptop as my office DPF.
